A warm welcome from the headteacher, Mrs Louise Saunders

A huge welcome to our children, parents, carers and interested visitors.  It is a real pleasure and great privilege as the Head Teacher of Welbeck Academy to welcome you to our school website.

Welbeck aims to provide the highest quality primary education from our location here in Walker, Newcastle.  Our school has been open and serving the community since 1914.  In that time there have been many changes to education and indeed our beautiful school building.  WISE Academies are proud to have been involved with the school since 2012, and our shared passion is to make our children feel loved, nurtured and safe so that they realise their true academic potential.

My priority as Head Teacher is to ensure that Welbeck provides the best education for the children.  My job is to lead the dedicated team so that we ensure that every child’s needs are met.  Every minute of every day counts at Welbeck!  It is essential that we challenge and support our pupils to achieve their full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.

It is my vision that the children of Welbeck leave us in Year 6 as happy, successful, articulate, aspirational and empathetic young people, eager for the next stage of learning in their lives and respectful towards the exciting differences of cultures in modern British society.

I know how vital working in partnerships with parents really is, in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience.  I strongly believe achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand to ensure each child’s excellent progress.  I hope you will support our high expectations in all areas, especially in attendance, behaviour and achievement.

Together we will make Welbeck Academy an exciting place for your children in which they can learn, grow and flourish and also as a beacon of excellence across our great city.

On Monday 24th March 2025 we have launched a consultation to consider the future of the ARP at Welbeck. This is to examine whether it is viable to continue providing additional speech and language support to a small number of pupils on behalf of the local authority.

This does not affect pupils attending the main school, just those who currently have a place at the ARP. If you would like to share your views, there is an email address for you to do so. We are consulting for four weeks.
